Global Warming & Green House Effect

Global warming is when the earth heats up. It happens when green house gases trap light and heat from the sun in the earths atmosphere, whitch causing the heat. This effects people, animals, and plants.
The green house effect is, the temperature rises because the suns heat and light is trapped in the earths atmosphere.
Global warming is affecting the world in many ways such as, making the sea and water rise on many low land areas. The water covers the plants whitch cause some to die. When they die, the animals loose a sourse of food, along with there habitat.

Fats into jet fuels...

New technology can turn any fat including mineral oil into fuel for jets without adding any gasoline products.
I think this is a good idea because it will keep our air clean and free of pollution. this will affect me and everyone i know in a good way because it will prevent pollution which will also help the environment and keep the world clean this will also save fuel that is used in jets and save money which is good for our economy. using the fats as fuel will also make society better because more flights can be made because of the save on fuel. And finally this will make the world a better place for our kids and the generations to come. altoghether this idea can make the planet a much better place.

Mild winters may shift spread of mosquito-borne illness

As you all know it has been a very mild winter this year and because of that, there was not much snow that fell so by there not being any snow there is going to be very little wash out.  in the past few years it has snowed quit a bit here in Saskatchewan and as spring came along and the snow melted and created little pools of water, in these little pools of water mosquito's migrated, and because there was so many little pools of water there was many mosquito's last year, because there was no snow this year there will be not very many mosquito's.  This fact will affect many people in a good way, there won't be a big need for spraying your self with half the can of mosquito spray when you go out for a walk.  it will also affect us and many animals too for example a bird dies that has a disease, a mosquito's comes along and sucks its blood  that mosquito is now carring the disease and if that mosquito bits you, you could get infected, because there are not going to be that many mosquito's there is a better Chance you will not get sick. this will affect me in because i would stink like mosquito spay.

packaged food maked girls hyper

scientists are finding out about a chemical that is dangerous to fetius, its name is bisphenol aka BPA, Why is it dangerous to un-born babies? its mainly because it resmebles the sex hormone estrogen, it harms health,   estrogen is known to be important in fetal brain development in rodents.what is it?  BPA is a component of the resins that line cans of food and the plastics in some food packaging and drink container, BPA doesn't affect adults because there brains are fully developed, it can only harm the fetius of a pregnant mother, the best way to avoid it is to reduce the exposure to this harmful chemical as much as possible.

Unprinted paper.

Engineers at the Carmbridge University, are developing a process that uses short laser pulses to vaporize words and images and effectively "unprint" used paper. The toner ink is heated until the point that it is virtually erased from the page, returning the most commonly used types of paper, carbon or plastic polymer, to a form in which they can be re-used. Researchers believe that the product could greatly reduce the enviroment impact caused by discarding and even recycling sheets.

Basket ball sized eyes help squids play defense.

Giant and colossal squids have eyes as big as basketballs, and a Duke scientist thinks he knows why. "They're most likely using their huge eyes to spot and escape their predators, sperm whales," said Duke biologist Sonke Johnsen. To explain the squids' eye size, Johnsen and his collaborators first measured giant and colossal squid eyes using photos and captured animals. The squids eyes are much larger than the swordfish, even though they are about the same size. They use it for defense in low light conditions, the contrast in larger eyes is much better for low light, where squids are usually found.

Rising Ocean Temperatures Harm dilicate coral reefs

Do to rising ocean temperatures conservation zones know as marine protected areas provide many benefits to coral reefs and fisheries. But these zones haven't provided much protection from global warming.

coral reefs have been degrading for a few reasons including overfishing, sedimentation and rising ocean temperatures due to greenhouse gas emissions.Even slightly changing temperatures 1 degree to 2 degrees Fahrenheit  above normal summertime highs cal kill coral pylpus, which builld coral reefs.

This could devasate biodeversity in oceans and hurt the fishing industery. But on the up side
Previous research has shown that under optimal conditions, reefs in marine protected areas saw increases in coral cover of 1 percent or 2 percent per year.

Turning Garbage into Fuel

Mumbai (located in Asia) is a rapidly growing city that is being taken over by trash. Recently the trash has pushed people to figure out new ways to get rid of it. A company has developed a way to turn the trash into fuel like gas and oil. This new advancement will help this generation by keeping the earth clean and figuring out more green ways to clean up the planet, it will help the economy by employing more people to work at these plants. It will benefit my children because they will an oppurtunity to live in a clean world and they might even be able to keep a good gas and oil supply. http://vimeo.com/30695759

Fruit flies and their noses

Without the ability to smell correctly fruit flies are less likely to attack humans or plants. This will affect humans by allowing them not to be disturb by fruit flies. We now know that if we can disrupt there sense of smell it will help us make camping and going to the beach enjoyable. Where this will affect is all over the world. Why this affect this will affect society, it will make more crops grow becaause repellents will make the fruit flies not attack it. This will also affect humans because the fruit flies wont attack their fruit and them. This will affect me because i will get good fruit more often. It will affect society because there will be more crops and fruit that lasts. There environment will be cleaner and the economy will rise because there will be more crops to sell.

Cell Phones and Pregnant People Don't Mix

Using your cell phone is harmless enough, but what about using it while pregnant? Studies show that it can cause the child to have behavioral disorders in offsprings. This has been studied by Dr. Hugh S. Taylor, professor and chief of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
They have done tests on pregnant mice by exposing them to radiation from a cell phone that was placed above the cage on an active phone call.
This can affect me if I have children and use my cell phone, it could possibly cause my child to have behavioral disorders. It can affect society because everyone uses a cell phone, including pregnant women, without even thinking about the radiation waves, but if people knew that it can harm them or their kids, they might think twice about using a phone. It can affect our economy by ruining childrens lives, because they won't be able to control themselves, so it will affect everything around us.

Rising Ocean Temperatures Harm Protected Coral Reefs

March 15th, 2012

Marine protected areas provide benefits to fisheries and coral reefs. These such zones have shown no protection against global warming for the coral reefs. Marine Biologist and divers have found that with the increasing temperature coral reefs are slowly dying off. A rise intemperature of even just 1 or 2 degrees kills coral polyps which creates the reefs.
This could effects us and society, people love to visit the reefs and see their natural beauty. Without the reefs, it could effect the flow of tourists who pay extra to see the coral reefs. This all turns around to effect the economy. Without the reefs, tourist attractions loose money, without money things cant keep running and people loose jobs. Its a chain reaction. Loosing the reefs would play a big part on the enviroment, coral reefs help protect shores from impact of waves and storms. Hundreds of fish make homes in the reefs, and if they loose their homes then other creatures loose their meals!
The dying off of the corla reefs wouldnt only effect us today, but in the long run. Our future generations wouldnt have the chance to see the magnificiant reefs. We have to reverse climate change and stop green house gases from hurting our enviroment.

Climate Change, Should we be more environmentally friendy?

An issue of climate change has changed very many peoples mind about our living conditions. Scientists are considering bioengineering future generations, in order to change the impacts some humans may have on earth. This issue is being planned and issued at New York University. They are planning many different situations and what could be done. Some things they are considering to do are make smaller people, because they don't require as much food as larger people and creating nicer, friendlier people who would be more considerate towards others and be able to tackle environmental problems. This could have a huge effect on society, and the enviroment, considering that if or when this happens there may not be as much global warming and future generations could have a healthier and "greener" life. This could also affect the economy, but in a good way, because the climate change could better agriculture and rates could go down, bettering the way people live.

What weather is causing.

Predicting effects of climate change on  population sizes will be hard in some cases  to the lack of knowledge of the species biology. Early snow melt in the first year leads to lower availability of the butterfly's  flower species a result of newly developing plants being exposed to early season frosts that kill flower buds. Studies showed that shortens  flowers and there for nectar per butterfly adversely affected butterfly population growth rate. Then the other bugs will be bothering me because of the butterfly's growth problem. The butterfly's growth problem will effect the other species that feed off of them then that species that's feed of the butterfly will effect that specie and so one. then soon there will be a whole species wiped out then another and soon the humans will be on the line.

Will spring seeding be slowed by light snow?

Will spring seeding be slowed by light snow? What is it going to do? Who will do something about  the process of seeding? Where will this hit? When will it happen? Why will there be a light snow fall? What will it do that's easy it will either moisturise the ground or melt it but keeping a puddle of water on the ground. ONLY the farmers do something about the process of seeding/farming, but do to agriculture farmers contribute alot to the economy. So with out any crops the economy, environment would suffer. This will effect the economy big time if farmers can't get there crops in. We won't have hardly and grains, farmers will have no money to get food for there families, the whole economy system would be out of order. It will hit near Saskatoon do to there dry and some what moisturised grounds. Stormy weather spreads across the prairies in Alberta probably heading towards Saskatchewan. This will effect us in future references, if the weather keeps up at this rate in 15-20 years we may not even have a winter it might just be summer all year long. Graph of Northern Hemisphere temperatures, 1860 through 1970    This is a graph that 15-20 years ago the weather levels have already started to climb. This is why we need to protect the earth not try to kill it because once all the moisture in the air dry's up then there will be no more crops, and everything including us, and no more of anything. that's all. :)will spring seeding be slowed by light snow
